Scott King

Scott King has been a Southern Baptist his entire life.  He was saved during VBS at Bluffton Baptist Church in Yell County, Arkansas at the age of 6.  His dad led singing there and eventually was called to pastor in Clarksville.  Scott has served the Lord in a variety of roles.  He has led singing, taught Sunday school, led RAs, and served as a counselor at a church camp.  While attending college at UCA, he was active in the Baptist Student Union, serving on outreach teams and Student Leadership Councils, and as a Student Summer Missionary at various locations throughout Arkansas.

God brought he and his wife Lorna together at BSU at UCA.  He graduated in May of 1990 with a BS in Computer Science and went to work for ArDOT shortly thereafter.  They married after Lorna graduated in 1990 and have been married for 35 years.  They have two children.  Their daughter Sarah is 30 and is serving God in Southeast Asia.  Their son Jared is 25 and a recent college graduate.  About the time their daughter was born, God called him to serve as pastor at Roland Baptist Church in Pulaski Association where Scott served for 11 years.  He then called them to Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Benton, where they have now served for 20 years.  All that time, he was bi-vocational, working at ArDOT for 34 ½ years before retiring in April of 2024.

As all his service has been in small churches, Associations have always been a big part of his ministry.  He has held various positions within the associations he has been part of and attended as many meetings as his secular job allowed.  He also has a desire to help his sister churches answer God’s call on them to reach our community with the gospel, and he feels led to encourage his fellow pastors, especially those serving in small churches.
